Engagement Survey

A few years ago, we started doing engagement surveys for customers in the swine industry. These were modeled from the Gallup yearly engagement surveys that have taken place for many years across global businesses.

Gallup found that the most engaged companies were the most profitable and kept employees long term. Gallup continues these surveys (2024 Survey shown below) and continues to show highly engaged employees bring more profit and longer term employees.

At first, we partnered with Summit SmartFarms on these surveys. An initial engagement survey was done for several hundred people across the swine industry representing about 20% of the US Swine herd. This initial engagement survey showed that companies with the highest level of engagement also averaged nearly 2 pigs more per litter per year. With the extra productivity, these companies proved to be significantly more profitable than the ones with lower engagement scores. This survey also showed that the companies that kept employees satisfied and engaged we also more profitable.

After that initial survey, we worked with customers on a regular basis to help improve their internal employee engagement. One example (below) shows improvements that Martin Family Farms has made over time. Their overall engagement numbers have gone up. And, when they focus on improving a particular area (such as management skills in the example below), they always improve.

What’s next for Engagement Surveys?

In 2025, we are back to doing industry-wide engagement surveys for the livestock industry. We serve the swine industry the most, but also serve the dairy and poultry industry with these services.

Sign up today to see how you stack up against the rest of the industry in how engaged your employees are. If they aren’t as engaged as you want them to be, we’ll help you get them engaged!
